If you have a sweet tooth, it’s likely that one of your favorite celebrations is Easter. This holiday is celebrated with lots of candy – there are entire activities, like the Easter egg hunt, designed around collecting the most amount of candy you can find. While any type of candy can be considered Easter candy, there are two main types that have a specific Easter theme. One is candy that is shaped like an egg or comes in a plastic egg, and the other is candy made from marshmallows. Both of these are particularly popular during the Easter season.

When you’re choosing what kind of Easter candy to get, start off with what you like and what your guests like. If you’re not a fan of marshmallows, for example, avoid getting candy that is made out of marshmallows and focus on chocolate or gummies instead. Similarly, if you know your guests love nuts, opt for candy that includes chocolate or yogurt coated nuts to satisfy everyone’s sweet tooth.

Consider what you’ll be using the candy for. Is it to put into plastic eggs for an Easter egg hunt? If that’s the case, look for candy that is wrapped in small servings that can fit into the plastic Easter eggs. Some candy brands already package their candy in plastic Easter eggs, so all you have to do is hide them for your guests. If you’re buying candy for an Easter basket, you can go with full-sized packaging as it looks more substantial in a gift basket.

• If you’re shopping for young children, always keep allergies in mind as children may not know to look at the ingredients before they dive in. Also be aware of candy shaped like small balls or eggs, as those can be chocking hazards for babies and small children.
• When you’re planning an Easter egg hunt for many children, consider color-coding the eggs. For example, set aside a color for each child and ask them to only look for eggs of that color. This way, one child won’t end up with all of the eggs while the rest won’t have any. This is a good way to ensure everyone gets their fair share of candy.
