Expert Reviews
What reviewers liked
Throw in over 8 hours of battery life, a DVD drive and just about every port you can imagine, and this 15.6-inch laptop is a real winner for consumers on a budget.
For just $350, you get a Core i3 processor, a 15.6-inch display with a resolution of 1920x1080, a 1TB storage drive, and Windows 10.
The extra chassis space adds up to a keyboard deck that is wide and comfortable, but the chiclet-style keyboard has a full numeric keypad.
There are some less expensive options if you're really looking to save money, but considering this laptop is only $20 more than our previous top pick, the Dell Inspiron 15 3000 Series (3558), and delivers better performance and a higher-resolution display, the Acer Aspire E 15 (E5-575-33BM) is our Editors' Choice for low-cost desktop-replacement laptops.
The combination of the integrated graphics card, the ultra-low power dissipation of the 14nm technology CPU, and a medium sized display results in the ability to use this laptop for 10 hours or more with light uses.
Equipped with the latest in processor technology, the Acer Aspire E5-575-33BM will surely exceed your daily use expectations.
Performance wise, the laptop is top-notch! thanks to the latest hardware packed beneath the hood the Acer Aspire E5-575-33BM delivers a very stable and efficient performance even under continuous usage.
One of the best things about this Acer Aspire is its battery life. 12 hours on a single charge beats out the majority of laptops you will find.
What reviewers didn't like
Even in a market in which most built-in laptop webcams take poor pictures, the Aspire's 720p sensor stands out for all the wrong reasons. When I shot a selfie under the flourescent lights of my office, both my facial features and the background behind me were filled to the brim with extra visual noise.
The dual stereo speakers, which are embedded in the front edge of the Aspire E 15’s case, are loud but a bit muddy.
ultimedia editing will be definitely on the lower side of average, but it is still adequate for a general user who won’t be editing photos beyond the occasional color correction and cropping.
The speakers leave something to be desired, as they're adequate at best, but certainly not high quality.
However, I would advise against going for the maximum amount and just buying an additional 4GB stick to double the factory standard RAM.
On an overall conclusive note on the design of this laptop, it surely is a good looking laptop for the asking price but is slightly heavy with the keyboard and trackpad to blame for.
