Fantastic price, very portable, and has decent battery.
The mini charger is super small and compact.
However, it does have one if the longer warranty periods of the group that offers limited coverage over 18 months.
This is about as light as they come too, making it great to place in any carry-on or backpack. The build quality is excellent with a very compact interior design too.
The power bank is 3.5 inches long and about .9 inch thick with a width of .9 inches – almost the same size as a lipstick.
We love that it intelligently charges your device as fast as your device allows which is great because overcharging or rapid charging batteries can seriously shorten their lifespan.
The size of the power bank is so small that it can even fit easily in any pocket and this means that you can very well put the Mini and your phone into the same pocket and have your phone being charged as you walk the streets.
In saying this, the Anker PowerCore mini portable charger looks pretty smart and manages to avoid that “tacky” look that some competitors have.
The design itself is very minimalistic and elegant. I already mentioned about aluminum shell finish which feels very solid in your hand and gives you extra peace of mind if you accidentally drop it.
It has a small capacity for an external battery at 3350mAh which keeps the size to a minimum – it’s about the same size as a tube of lipstick.
There’s been multiple times where I forgot I had the mini portable charger in my pocket. Being the size of a stick of lipstick, it’s ultraportable and ultralight.
What reviewers didn't like
It charges devices slowly.
Lacks an indicator to display leftover battery life.
It doesn't have a built-in flashlight and also lacks integrated cables or a charging plug, requiring you to use your own USB wall brick.
Additionally, the efficiency can tend to decrease over time. This is common for all battery packs but since you are dealing with just 1 charge it could be a factor if you intend to use it very often.
However, 3350 mAh battery pack capacity is not adequate for most tablets and the latest generation of Android phones that have 3000 or 4000 mah batteries.
The charging speed of the PowerCore+ Mini is 5V/1.0A and that’s not exactly a fast charging speed.
In most cases however, you are dealing with sub standard cells and are going to have a bad time after a few charges of any device.
To display the charging capacity, led has 3 colors to indicate: green 50%-100%, yellow 20%-50%, and red 5%-20%. Its obviously not as accurate as Astro.
It takes roughly three hours to recharge and can output power at one amp. One amp certainly isn’t quick by today’s fast charging standards, but it is a trade-off I’ll take in place of better energy efficiency.
I do wish they could have put multiple lights as a more accurate way of finding out how much charge is left.
