Expert Reviews

What reviewers liked

It can quickly switch between nine different speeds to handle a range of tasks like creaming butter, mixing chunky doughs, or gently folding batters without straining. Extra features—a timer, a pause button, and a light that shines into the bowl—save time and take some of the guesswork out of a high-stakes bake. The Breville was the easiest mixer to use and clean, with a handy quick-release for beaters and a snap-on storage case to neatly consolidate its attachments.
The Breville has 9 speed options, all of which are noticeably different from each other. It mixes at both low and high speeds effectively. You change the speed via a scroll, and the new level will appear on the digital screen. At high speeds, the mixer remains steady and doesn't fly out of your hand around the bowl. It even has the ability to sense the specific attachment you're using (whisk, beater, hook) and calibrates its speed settings to fit the specific task.
The count-up timer displays precisely how long the mixer has been running. This is ideal as some pastry recipes are very precise about how long something needs to be mixed.

There’s a count-up timer on the top of the unit that records exactly how long you’ve been mixing things for precise baking. When you pause the timer, the mixer pauses too and remembers its speed for when you’re ready to resume things.
This nine-speed model is able to recognize which attachment you've inserted (beaters, dough hooks, or whisks) and automatically adjusts its speed to the optimal level for each task at-hand.
This hand mixer can detect what you attach to it, whether it be egg beaters or whisks. This is due to it’s IQ intuitive interface. On the interface, in the form of an LED screen on top, it will display how much time is remaining that you set it to, and you can even pause this time if needed.
It has a “smart” interface that is able to detect what kind of attachment you’re using, and the mixer will adjust the speed accordingly to ensure whatever you’re mixing will be perfectly blended. The 240-watt DC motor is relatively quiet when used at the lower speeds, while still delivering high torque.
The scraper beaters are coated so you can beat right against the side of the bowl with less noise. There’s a count-up timer so you can keep track of the mixing time for recipes that require a specific mixing length.
More convenient than ever, this is one of the best portable mixers that has Beater IQ intuitive interface that can detect the type of attachment you are using and automatically adjust the speed all by itself.
Breville’s the Handy Mix Scraper comes loaded with an impressive array of features. To operate it, you press “on” and then select one of nine speeds. As soon as mixing starts, a light shines down on the bowl and a timer starts counting up. There’s a pause button so that if you interrupt mixing to stir or add ingredients, you can keep track of your mixing time.
It has a countdown timer, which is really convenient when you’re working with a recipe that requires precision, and a light so you can easily check your food while it’s being blended.

What reviewers didn't like

The silicone tends to peel off after extended hard use

The Breville BHM800SIL is not a budget option. All these features come at a cost, so this model is more expensive than some of the competition.
It is quite on the expensive side for looking like just an ordinary hand mixer.
It was one of the slower models and the only one that struggled a bit to knead enough dough for two loaves of bread.
