From The Manufacturer

Hard water is water that contains calcium or magnesium mineral ions often in the form of carbonate. These ions do not pose any health threat, but they can engage in reactions that leave insoluble mineral deposits. Hard water mineral deposits, or scaling, is the precipitation of minerals which form lime scale. How to Descale? Fill the kettle with 1 cup of vinegar or lemon juice and 2 cups of water. Boiling the liquids and leave it for 2 hours, then use cloth to clean and wipe. Rinse the kettle with clean water, and dry with a soft, clean cloth. Repeat as needed. Note: Its normal if your kettle exposes spot or rust on the stainless steel bottom after the first use, if the water quality in your area is so hard. Here are some steps to descale the kettle: 1. Unplug the kettle and pour out all water. Make sure the kettle is cool. 2. Squeeze half a lemon into the kettle, or add 1⁄2 US cup / 118 mL of distilled vinegar into the kettle. 3. If the kettle has thick scale buildup, scrub the kettle’s inner walls with a non-scratch scrub sponge. 4. Add 2 US cups / 473 mL of water. Boil the mixture. 5. Pour out the mixture, then wipe off any remaining scale with a non-abrasive cloth, sponge, or cleaning brush. 6. Repeat as needed.

What reviewers liked

With a body made of high-quality, scratch-resistant borosilicate glass, this minimalist electric kettle has earned many raves for its looks.
Automatically shuts off 30 seconds after the water has reached the boiling point. Includes boil-dry protection and a stainless steel filter in the spout. Features a large top opening for easy cleaning. Includes an indicator light that glows during boiling.
First, it’s got some weight to it, considering how light the base is. To turn it on, you flip a nice switch in the handle. It immediately lights up with pretty blue light around the bottom of the pot. This makes a swirling sound, and within minutes, the sound disappears as the water starts to boil and this thing really boils. It doesn’t whistle, but it stops, on its own.

We love that this kettle, even when full, is comfortable to hold, with the handle slightly grippy to help. It has never dripped once, and the lights situated in the base are an ingenious way to give it that extra special something. Another bonus is that being glass, the water isn’t tainted by the taste of plastic and retains its clean and fresh flavor.
We also love the COSORI Cordless Electric Kettle because it also offers a 1.7-liter capacity, food-grade stainless steel and glass construction, and auto shutoff, but it comes in at an even more affordable price point.
The build and design of the mouth are wide which is a big plus. This enables one to have a thorough wipe in the inside of the kettle.

What reviewers didn't like

On unpacking, there was a strong plasticy smell, but after rinsing and boiling, it disappeared.
It could be a bit heavy for some hands. The problem of lime build-up. This can be disturbing especially when the water being used is hard.
