What reviewers liked
In contrast, the HP Spectre x2, which is clearly a close cousin of the Surface Pro, starts at $799 (£799 or AU$1,699), and includes its very good keyboard cover in that price.
The stunning display is noticeably more vivid than that of Microsoft’s laptop replacement, not to mention the aforementioned magnetic keyboard and Active Stylus Pen are bundled in the package.
HP’s keyboard attachment for the x2 is first class: the backlit keys are well spaced and have good feedback when typing, and the textured backside feels durable and looks classy.
It works well with Windows Ink apps built into Windows 10, as well as graphics creation and illustration apps like Adobe Creative Cloud.
The detachable keyboard that comes with the Spectre x2 is one of the best I've ever used.
What reviewers didn't like
The end effect is a keyboard that feels stiffer and more substantial than the Microsoft version.
It’s wide and overall functional, but this cursor controller ultimately overstays its welcome.
It’s the trackpad that isn’t as pleasant or efficient to use, the loud and annoying fans that always seem to be spinning, and the feeling that the x2 is just getting overwhelmed when I try to do more than a few things at once with it.
Battery life was somewhat disappointing, with the Spectre x2 lasting only 8 hours, 45 minutes bwtween charges.
Annoyingly, the Active Pen came with a sticker that, when removed, left a residue I had to wipe off.
