Expert Reviews
What reviewers liked
Capable of firing quickly and shooting long range, up to 75 feet. Easy to load, even for youngsters.
Balanced power. The Strongarm Blaster is powerful, but not overpowered. It launches darts about 75 feet, although it works best at around 50 feet. At shorter ranges, it packs a punch, and can sometimes make surprisingly long-range shots. Easy to load. The Strongarm Blaster has a cylinder that pops out for easy loading (much like an old six shooter). This makes it really easy to load, while also providing the gun with a really fun design element. Two different firing modes. Another element that gives this blaster the feel of a six-shooter is the option to launch a hail of darts in quick succession. By holding the trigger and moving the rear handle back and forth, you can fire off all six rounds in a few seconds. Great size. The Elite Strongarm Blaster is a pretty ideal size if you’re looking for a sturdy but handy “go-to” blaster. It’s not overly large or cumbersome, but it does have significantly more power than most similarly-sized blasters.
In fairness, the Strongarm is not a bad blaster. It retains a lot of the Maverick strong points while attempting to improve on some of the latter’s weaknesses. It also shoots pretty far (though with worse accuracy than we recall with various Mavericks we’ve used), and can be used in slam fire mode to improve upon the Maverick’s relatively slow rate of fire. And it’s on the reasonably affordable end of the Elite line pricing.
Has Slam Fire capability. Elite spec range, which is good for a secondary. Reliable firing mechanism, so few jams. Excellent trigger action. It is a classic!
The Nerf N-Strike Elite Strongarm lives off the huge success of Maverick. There were few flaws with the latter and Strongarm has rectified them. It even comes at a slightly lesser price now, which makes it a complete steal. The performance is top notch, the design is iconic and there are no jamming issues. What else can you expect from a gun right? The combat experiences you can have with this gun are innumerable and that is up to your imagination.
Easy To Handle. Fast Reloading. 6 Dart Rotating Barrel
One. No batteries required. Two. The biggest pro of Strongarm is its price. You could get it for less than 10 dollars in Amazon! Thirdly this blaster almost never jams. Rightly hailed as the possibly best Nerf blaster of all time for its price, the whole point of the Strongarm is to have nothing but pros. The power, speed and accuracy combine to give birth to an exemplary blaster. Each and every feature of the Strongarm is an advantage, and anyone fortunate enough to bestow themselves with this blaster is sure to be a happy shooter. Go ahead and blast to your hearts’ content. The Strongarm blaster will let you do so!
What reviewers didn't like
Only holds 6 darts at a time, and they occassionally jam when the barrel fails to rotate.
Uncomfortable grip. While it’s clearly intended as a one-handed blaster, the Strongarm can get a little bit uncomfortable after a long day of shooting. You can hold it with two hands to mitigate this somewhat, but the main issue seems to be that the gun has a wider grip. Accuracy drops over long distances. You can sometimes get extremely long-range shots off with the Strongarm blaster (up to 90 feet), but they’re not likely to hit what you’re aiming for. The accuracy drops off pretty sharply over 40-50 feet.
Unfortunately, the biggest weakness of the Strongarm is that it will forever be compared to the Maverick. Indeed, if range isn’t an issue, we’d be hard-pressed to recommend the newer Strongarm if given a choice between the two… instinctively, we’d grab the blaster that’s more comfortable and more fun to use. And 9 times out of 10, that would be the Maverick. Sometimes it’s hard to improve on a classic.
Only holds 6 darts at a time. Some effort is needed to pull the spring back to prime
Long Range Firing
Cons come in the form of customization. There is no barrel extension slot at the front. No Stock attachment slot at the back either. So except for performance mods, much customization is not possible. Otherwise the Strongarm blaster has been complimented to contain no cons when it comes to ease of use or performance.
